Jermaine Taylor vs Jeff Lacy Super Middleweight Fight Preview and Betting Odds
Super Middleweight's Jermaine Taylor and Jeff Lacy will fight in what is billed as a Super-Middleweight Elimination event about 10 pm ET tonight at Memorial Gymnasium on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn and televised on regular HBO. Each fighter has held a championship belt at one time but with both coming off career setbacks, winning tonight's 12 round bout is crucial. This fight will determine the direction of Taylor or Lacy's future.
Boxing oddsmakers at leading boxing book, Bodog (Bodoglife.com) have installed Jermaine Taylor as a -550 odds ($550 bet USD to win $100) favorite to win the fight. The betting round total is set at 10 1/2.
The hype surrounding this fight is growing, in large part because this is a fight that is so crucial to the careers of both Taylor and Lacy. Both fighters know a loss will be very difficult to come back from.
"Jermain knows how big this is," Taylor's promoter, Lou DiBella, said. "He's very aware. This is the kind of fight that will escalate him back to the top. He has to win the fight. I do think he's hungry again. He wants this fight."
"Everything is peaking at the right time," Taylor said. "I'm ready. I feel great, and we have a good game plan for Jeff (Lacy). I have the skills to go in there and win, and look...

Randy Couture sued on eve of UFC 91 Brock Lesnar Fight
Randy Couture is expected to head to the octagon this weekend in UFC 91 against Brock Lesnar but will the former Ultimate Fighting Champion have something else on his mind? A lawsuit was filed in Las Vegas court today by event production company TOAST of New York against the mixed martial arts star. The suit claims that Couture failed to pay TOAST approximately $125,000 for an event hosted by his organization, Xtreme Couture GI Foundation. Terry Coffing, the attorney representing Toast of New York, said Couture has only paid $50,000 of his $175,000 bill.
Besides being sued by TOAST, Couture's wife Kim won a restraining order against Affliction Inc. clothing company owner Todd Eugene Beard this week. The Couture's T-shirt business partner allegedly made threats and tried to intimidation Kim.
"My fear of Mr. Beard is well-founded given his extensive criminal history. Not only has he been convicted of numerous state and federal felonies relating to fraud ...he has engaged in numerous acts of violence, including violence against women."
Kim Couture also asked the judge to prohibit Beard from attending a UFC bout featuring Randy Couture this Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden arena. Sportsbook.com has Couture a +110 underdog in UFC 91 against the former WWE Champion turned mixed martial arts fighter Brock Lesnar.
"I had to move my camp a couple hours away up in northern Minnesota," Lesnar said. "We're out in...
